CIPD Student Stories: Katie Nicholas | Level 3 Certificate in People Practice

Katie shares her positive experience with online learning as someone who initially had reservations before she got started. Read her story below.

The course I undertook with ICS Learn was the CIPD Level 3 Foundation Certificate in People Practice. 

There were several organisations I researched which offered this course, after speaking with an advisor at ICS Learn I felt reassured by the layout and process used. There was also a discount on at the time when I enrolled which was very beneficial and helped to decrease the overall amount I needed to pay for the course, which was a great incentive.

I've never completed an online learning course which was this in-depth and also required me to submit assignments online. One of my reservations was whether I would be able to juggle everything, my studies, personal life and my job responsibilities, however, 

I'm pleased to say that I was able to manage my time effectively and that the self-paced nature of the course allowed me to fit my studies around my existing schedule with no concerns.

After enrolling, I assumed that I would need to reach out to my tutor a fair few times, however, I found the course and the learning platform to be quite self sufficient so in the end, I only reached out to my tutor twice. The second time they unfortunately didn't get back to me, but -

Luckily both the live sessions and the multiple accessible forums enabled me to seek and gain the answers to the queries I had, so this didn't turn out to be an issue. 

Studying this qualification has helped to me enhance my understanding and overall knowledge in people practice. It has also enabled me to rethink the way certain aspects of my job are done; as well as providing me with the knowledge to bring new ideas within my organisation regarding the way we work and how particular aspects can be improved to enhance the experience.

I would recommend ICS Learn to a family member or friend, in fact, I already have! I mentioned ICS Learn to a friend recently who expressed an interest in wanting to get more heavily involved within the people team within her workplace.
